Very interesting thread. Thanks for sharing.

The seller was offering the miles in exchange for the amount equivalent to what he could get in Esso Gift cards. So less than 1 cent per mile. I was willing to take the risk of getting ripped off which I considered to be a minimal risk yesterday. I had no idea this was not allowed and am glad you guys have informed me of this. I should have read the T&C’s.

I didn’t even have a specific use in mind for them. Just thought it was too good to pass up.

Since this post, I have notified the seller that I am not interested because it’s against the Terms and Conditions and his freak out reaction has led me to suspect that he was probably going to try to rip me off anyway. That combined with the fact that it was a too good to be true offer and he seemed to know a little too much about aeroplan for someone willing to sell for so cheap.

So Flyertalk has saved me from 2 potential negative scenarios. 1) Being Ripped off and 2) Something similar to what happened to the OP in the shared thread. Thanks again.
