Hear hear 100%. I choose my seats carefully sometimes months in advance, and it's not my problem if others can't or don't. If I'm not settled, it's for a family and the swap is completely like-for-like then I'll consider it, but not just so a couple can sit together. It's only a flight. You'll see each other when you get there.

And yes, I am in a relationship. Myself and my girlfriend are flying GOT-LHR soon and I have the exit row window seat booked. BA wouldn't move her to the seat next to me without payment, so we'll take our chances at check-in and not pester others to move if it doesn't work out.
