Completed this trip this weekend: everything was fine.

Checked in at T-22 hours on the outbound, got 20D for the single and 27DEF for the 3.

Checked in at T-24 (almost to the minute) on the inbound, got 12DEF and 14D.

In both cases, it appeared that they were assigning front to back. The back few rows on both flights were not full. (Sounds like this might be a change?)

The experience overall was okay. Seat pitch was actually not as awful as I expected...no different than "economy minus" on a legacy carrier. Our one checked bag was up on the belt quickly both ways as well. We all four carried standard backpacks onboard and weren't hassled to stuff them into sizers. (They did fit under our seats, of course.) Allegiant met all expectations I had going in (for $95 R/T per person MCI-SFB)...perhaps even exceeded them.
