Also at least ex-HKG Ground Agents try to pick on airport check-in pax and if they resist, pick on someone else http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/catha...y#post25124409 .

I religiously OLCI for my family members and myself on the T-48 mark to avoid being picked on (particularly if I'm not around to push back the bullying). Even if it doesn't influence their op-up chances anymore.

Since you're departing US you are due comp at 200% of fare. I'd insist on it.
