CX... Do award tickets get bumped first during overbooking?
So I just had the unfortunate experience of being bumped off a flight at the LAX. I am MPC green and was traveling on an award ticket.
Basically, during check in at the CX counter, they told me there was not enough seats to HKG (overbooked) and that I had to take the next flight out. Natural reaction here is that my award ticket was bumped in favor of a last minute booking from a full fare business class pax.
So instead of taking CX897 (8:25am), I was given a boarding pass for CX885 (11:25am). Now I'm not one to demand compensation, given that it was a 3 hr delay, but it was quite annoying to wake up at 4am to goto the airport only to feel that I was arbitrarily bumped off the flight.
In either case has anyone had this experience and what, if any, can one reasonably expect for CX (or any other airline) to offer in a situation like this?
