I'm traveling ZRH->LHR->IAH starting Friday night. LX for the first segment, then UA for the second (booked thru the UA website). The LHR->IAH segment leaves Saturday morning, so I'm staying overnight at the Sofitel at LHR Terminal 5.

I've traveled this route many times, but never with an overnight layover. Before, it's always been a two hour layover at LHR, and my bag was always "checked thru" in ZRH to IAH so I didn't mess with it at LHR.

Note that I didn't specifically request the layover. It was one of the itineraries that came up when I searched on IAH->ZRH->IAH.

Anyone know what the "process" is at LHR with an overnite layover? I assume LX will not check my bag thru so I can get it at LHR. Do I simply treat LHR as a "final destination" instead of a connecting flight? Go thru LHR customs, pick up my bag, go to the hotel, then the next morning go thru the normal process as if my LHR->IAH segment is a single flight?
