Seriously, I stayed at HGV in Vegas years back, and a month later my pretty-darn-private cell phone number started lighting up with tons of calls from Vegas timeshares (Hilton and others). I don't give my cell number out to almost anyone, so pretty easy to track back that this happened because a long time ago I had this number on my Hilton profile and stayed at HGV Vegas. Deleted it and went with a "555-5555" type number. Took a lot of call blocking, "Please add me to your do-not-call list" requests, but I've pretty much gotten rid of the sharks. This took quite a while to set in, at least a year.
Other than this, they're just hotels that also happen to sell timeshare arrangements. I love the Elara, had a good stay down in Orlando by Sea World, I'm sure some others. Usually bigger rooms, apartment style are available. Good for family stays.

The fact they are so sales oriented is exactly why I have avoided these in all my years as a Hilton customer. I despise getting sales pitches or even just being around it.
