Yes, I've also been robbed while on vacation. It happened on 6th and Meridian in South Beach, FL. We had a rental car which was from Orlando, FL and were going out for a night at the clubs.
We parked, placed our (my) belongings in the trunk and went walking. When we returned, we found that the car had been broken into, my dad's camcorder which I borrowed and purse were stolen. I had a total of about $1,500.00 taken from me with everything that was in my purse.
Later, while at the police station we found out that 6th and Meridian is one of the worst places to be.
This taught me a lesson that I still practice. ALWAYS place valuable things in the trunk BEFORE you arrive to your destination.
To this day I wonder if they ever got caught. Someone found the purse and mailed it back to me which had papers, checkbook and such. Also a ring that the thief didn't find!!!
