To answer a few questions.
I'm constantly dumping paper work as I continue my trips. I see no need to carry hotel reservations after Ive checked out. Similarly flight bookings, and boarding passes. I just keep receipts. I hired 2 cars in Greece on this trip - you get even more bumph there, one in Greek, one in English. I didn't keep anything after car is retuned
This AVIS experience has made me re think and I will keep car hire papers in future.
As its never happened before and I've hired in around 50 countries, it came as a shock.
