Yup! Mostly on YVR-FRA. If I was doing this route mostly wouldn't even think twice to switch to LH. This was between 2009-2012 though so not sure if things have changed. This route was almost always full, so I guess that's one of the main reasons, but even at times when it wasn't full I got the upgrade and I was ONLY Silver* back then!!!

A few times gate agents were even joking with me whether or not to give me the upgrade or not... Basically their gate agents have infinitely more freedom to upgrade than AC. I know for sure LH Senators are almost always upgraded!
