I have the following itinerary coming up, all in J and on the same ticket issued by UA but operated by NH and CX:

LAX-HND on NH,
HND-MNL on NH,
MNL-HKG on CX

Will I be able to check my luggage all the way to HKG from LAX? Or will I need to pick up the bags and pass through customs in MNL? What about immigration? Does MNL allow international-international transfer without passing through passport control/immigration?
