My flight, QF128 HKG-SYD, on Mon 4th Jan was substituted for an A330. I was looking forward to the A380 but this gave me the chance to try the new business suite. Online check in was not available at T-24. I only found out about the equipment change when I checked checkmytrip.com a few days prior. I went to MMB on qantas.com but could not pre-assign a new seat (was still showing my previous A380 seat).

As I had flown into HKG same day on CX and did not thru-check my luggage I used the In-town check in service at Hong Kong station. Asked for a window seat and was given 4E and told no windows were available. I made sure to return to the airport just before QF check-in opened at 3:30pm to be the first in the queue to change my seat assignment. Was given 7A, not the best window seat as it is the last one near the galley but I was happy enough. The new business class seat is excellent, managed a good 4hrs sleep. Shame the meal service took so long after take-off as cabin was full.
