Have you been sent an e-ticket receipt email that shows payment details, including the number of Avios used and the cash price paid?
In any event, the first thing that I would do is to go to
classic.checkmytrip.com and use your booking reference to pull up your booking.
When you have, check for two things:-

If you can see those things, then you shouldn't worry. Having an actual ticket gives you much more security and comfort.
But if there is no e-ticket, then it sounds like something may have gone wrong. From what you say, it sounds like you booked online rather than on the phone, and usually when you do that BA will take payment straight away. There are sometimes reported delays in taking payment, but that's usually when there's a manual booking or a manual intervention (eg a change). I think it's unusual to have a long delay if it was an online booking.
