"Construction is starting this week on a $23 million renovation of the Baton Rouge Marriott that will involve expanding all the hotel’s 299 rooms. Plans are to take in the balconies to give more space to the hotel rooms and to expand the guest bathrooms, said Jamie Turnage, director of sales for the Baton Rouge Marriott. Work should be complete by late September. The Marriott won’t be closed while the renovations are going on. “We’re going to close floors and have a buffer in between,” Turnage said. The hotel ballroom will be closed for a few months, beginning in July, so it can be remodeled. Renovations also will be done to the lobby, restaurant and exterior."
