Not specifically SLC, but I've used Advantage in the past and I'd suspect that you might have a similar experience at another location.
Simply put: like Payless, Enterprise, Thrifty, and a couple of others, you rent from this place because you got a rock-bottom rate. (In the Hertz commercials, this is the "not exactly" car company.) Expect fewer courtesy buses, a possible wait in line at the counter, old-fashioned paper contract forms to sign, and no FF miles with your rental. You probably won't get a free upgrade, but they might offer one for a few bucks a day.
Basically, go into the experience with a low stress level and expect that you are going to "pay" 15 or 20 extra minutes of your time in exchange for a great rate. (If you absolutely can't gamble 20 minutes, you might want to consider the bigger companies with systems like #1 Club Gold.) If the bus is waiting at the curb for you and there is no line at the counter, consider it a bonus!
