I once claimed my large suitcase off the Southwest carousel at LAX and it had a gooey brown "something" on it. When I wiped it off with a paper towel I could tell the "goo" was Tia Maria or some similar liqueur.

Obviously, someone else with checked luggage had put the bottle in their bag and it broke. Fortunately, my suitcase was hardshell with a good seal, so no damage to my clothing. But I hate to think what happened to the person's clothing in the "broken bottle suitcase." I also wonder how many other passengers with softside luggage had their cases stained and/or clothing ruined. Please don't put glass bottles in checked luggage.
