Having seen bags fall off the conveyor belt, and tire tracks on my suitcase (run over by a luggage cart), nothing breakable is guaranteed to survive. Odds are good that nothing will break but why is it worth carrying that beer? Newcastle Brown Ale is readily obtainable in the US for a cheap price. At least bring something special if you are going to that much trouble (their brown ale is superb but too easy to get). As for carrying it onboard in hand luggage, usually that is allowed but not always so you may have to check it.
