Discussed with an MOD at HKG today and was advised that the new system automatically blocks adjacent seats for passengers based on status once a flight is under airport control. For example, only a DM or above would be able to select a seat next to another DM.

Not sure if this is for real, so I would appreciate anyone's comments or experiences on whether this appears to work in practice
