My apologies, then! But I always consider cost/benefit with our leisure stays...and I don't concern myself with how others perceive "aspirational" in that context.

It's hard to say since I'm not in that place. I still think I would perceive that there are some St Regis, Luxury Collection, Park Hyatt, and Ritz Carlton hotels where I'd still want to stay for the cost/benefit. Not all FS, Pen, MO hotels are worth the added cost IMO. Not even all Aman are worth the added cost IMO--as I've said before about the Aman Summer Palace Beijing and Aman Venice...and now the Aman Tokyo.
I did consciously choose several years ago to stay at SPG hotels with my client groups after I recognized the value that my earned SPG Pro Starpoints would have for me personally--for both airline transfers AND for hotel award stays.
Staying with Hyatt for my client groups didn't do as much for me...since there aren't as many Hyatts for me groups to stay at anyway, since there aren't as many aspirational Hyatts, and since I can easily transfer Chase points to Hyatt when needed.
