besides hotel credit cards there is virgin limited edition via virgin atlantic miles
programs like LHW and SLH earn free nights from stays rather than points
there are also some less discussed point (and other format) hotel programs
offhand, one i recall would be taj (safari, palace) points, not sure re values
if you had zero business travel/spend, would you perceive hotel programs differently?

might be another interesting question - most remote award hotels
starwood for example wil soon be adding ion hotel in iceland
marriott has ritz carlton, but i think starwood beats it overall
park hyatt is strong/strongest in limited number of major cities
