The other option at the time was SAS and it had a smaller fee but can't remember how much. The expensive one was Luftansea. Was informed the latter only started adding these fees to reward tx in the last two years.

Apologies, should have said apx 400$ pp. Still seemed ridiculous and we took the train instead and saved the points and dollars. Train fare (first class) was the cheapest of the three options. Time more or less the same when you add in all non-flying time (ie getting/from to airports, security, etc). Quite comfortable.
