Not sure to ask this on LH or NH thread, but since LH will be my first flight, I might as well ask here.

I will be on a trip JFK-(LH)-FRA-HND-TSA (the airport in Taipei, not the security TSA), with both legs after FRA on NH, and I would like to check 3 bags thanks to the *G benefits. The issue is I am planning to do some souvenir shopping in FRA and HND during my 6-hour layover at both airport. Some of the items are liquid and probably sold only in landside.

I am wondering if I can just check 2 of the 3 bags all the way through to TSA from JFK, while reclaim the one remaining bag at both FRA and HND, put my purchased goods in it then re-check it onto the onward flight?

Or is it that if I want to take out bags in FRA and HND, I have to take all 3?
