Been to SA twice, early and mid 90s, both times in the fall. Great time to go. Stayed at the ElephantHills in Vic Falls- nice hotel; the security issue wasn't a problem as they had security on grounds and it was outside of town itself so less people milling around. Vic Falls is great for that-but Botswana would be an excellant choice for the water safaris, coupled that w/ the Kruger and you'll get quite a variety of wildlife. Namibia is a fantastic country to visit there and Malawi has great scnery and people. You can't do it all in one trip! When I was in Jo-burg, people were being robbed even in daylight within eyesight of local police station. Hope that isn't the case now.
