A few months ago the press reported a wave of kidnappings for money. In fact, last month a Texas lady sitting next to me on a flight out of Austin said that her husband had been taken hostage for money last fall at a hunting lodge outside BA.

Is this a cause for concern among travellers? I'd like to visit the city of Rosario (where I used to live), but I'd also like to come back home :-)

Some months back there was a wave of these, but the situation is now controlled. Police presence has been dramatically increased in all major cities. You have nothing to worry about. Enjoy your trip.
