Hmm, looks like Saxon gets the vote. Interesting, since I was leaning towards FS in JNB. SPA looks very nice there and I like the setting on the hill.

What's better @ Saxon ? I'm tempted to follow FT advise but need a bit more data.

thanks & regards,

Those of who prefer the Saxon over the FS Westcliff believe it fits us better...and that the Saxon has a slightly higher service and much higher F&B standard. You have to go with your gut as to which will fit you better. Data likely won't make much difference in the end, to be honest--since there are no data to prove one way or the other.

If you want to stay at the FS, stay at the FS! I'm sure it will be lovely. I just love the Saxon and wasn't overly fond of the Westcliff location nor renovation. (Was there last in Dec 2014). The Saxon is fantastic across the board IMO, which I don't believe to be true for the FS...though I don't do spas. My husband does, however, and he enjoyed his treatments at the Saxon spa.

I also tend to avoid FS, StR, RC, Pen, MO, etc. when there is a comparable or better service oriented "unique" luxury hotel that is available in the same locale. The only time I would opt otherwise is when there is a points redemption possibility at a comparably luxurious StR, Lux Collection, PH, or RC that allows me to stay for free. That isn't the case in Jo'burg.
