I'm not quite sure how that would be the case for flights?
(all of my flights have posted as online spending, even ones using corporate TA/OTA/direct from airlines.)
As well, from a regulatory perspective, I do believe that IATA rules mandate ticket number be included on the credit card statement, and that is generated online.
(my AMEX statements even have the full itinerary on them, i.e.

It also shows as an online transaction (and transaction location is DL's Montreal office, rather than the location of the travel agency.)
