Excellent Five Night Stay
I recently stayed here during Christmas for five nights. Everything was great. I stayed on the 5th floor. The room faced south toward the runways. Absolutely NO airport noise. The room has not been upgraded. It could have used a desk lamp but everything else was fine. Big TV and they will be getting bigger ones. I slept great on the new bed. I slept with the curtains open at night and during the day they did an excellent job of keeping the room dark. Climate control worked perfectly. The bathroom was small but VERY adequate. Shower was very hot and had great water pressure. The room was fine the way it was, didn't need to be refurbished. Try to get a room on the south side (airport) as the north side looks at the parking garage. Of course day-sleepers will appreciate the north.
They told me only three floors were available, maybe 150 rooms. Two different airlines use this hotel so I'm sure they occupy many rooms. As far as walking to LAX, I did notice some pilots walking back and forth to the hotel. Which is probably a nice break after being cooped-up all day. Funny coincidence, they told me SoCal was colder than NYC and Chicago that week. I had planned on using a DSU but front desk said nothing was available. I didn't think about asking for anything. I went back later and the FD gave me enough FB credit ($50.00)to use for two meals at the bar restaurant. I asked the FD to split it into two $25.00 credits. Both times I had the pasta/vegetable dish which was very good.
Both restaurants are great. Never busy and not too long of a wait for food while I was there. Diamonds get free breakfast. I like to get up early so often I eat breakfast late like an early lunch. If you are like me then the Japanese breakfast might be a good option as it has salmon, rice, tofu, miso, etc. Highly recommended. Everything I tried was good. They told me the restaurant will be remodeled also. It is nice and relaxing the way it is. Hyatt style is different than Radisson.
In closing I will say the staff here is very nice and helpful. I did use the valet because I needed the in/out privileges. Yes it is expensive but it is a nice convenience. Quick Park is a much cheaper option, just make a reservation. The Quick Park garage is right next to the hotel so its like you are still on-site. They told me Hyatt owns the garage and expanded it. I didn't use the airport shuttle but it is very convenient also. The pool is a long way from being done. There IS a workout room on the first floor.
