So imagine my surprise when I see Euro 94 on my Credit card statement today.
I don't object to some extra charge, but this is an obscene amount.

What is amusing is that on the day of the pick up, I had dropped an Avis car at another location 9 hours early in order to fly to Munich.

I have written to Avis - will let you know their answer.
You won't like their answer!
