> Passengers with hold baggage who fail to show on time is incredibly frustrating for the ground staff. Believe me, the last thing they want to do is offload you as that involves a lot of work looking for the bags and will invariably result in a delay.
Well it arrived 25m before STA so my screwup definitely didn't cause a delay. ;-) But I'm sure it's a pain for staff. Though given how quickly they managed to have taken our stuff on board (within 5m or so after gate closing time) it apparently wasn't that hard. Maybe not a full flight or mostly carry-on folks.
So yeah, lesson learned, and yeah, not proud of this at all! Hopefully they'll keep treating me nicely mostly otherwise, I'm mostly quite happy with BA, and won't be making this mistake again.
> This leads back to the conversation earlier in the week about distance to and from gates! I was shocked at how far it was to BA gates at Schipol especially taking in the convoluted route to the lounge on the way...
Yes this is awful! Supposedly the lounge situation will improve but this is a work in progress for a long time already. It'd also help lots if the check-in desks for BA were near the security entrance for the pier where their flights depart from... :-(
