I suppose someone with 74 nights last year (so Gold now) plus a whole lot of meetings at the very beginning of this year might earn Platinum as soon as the rollover nights post. So maybe if someone had 6 meetings today they want the rollovers to post. Somehow, I don't see that as a common (or even existent) situation.
No, it will have zero affect. Just impatience, like people wanting nights to post during the stay so they can change status level during a stay or for the next property the following night. Their year-end status remains in effect until the end of February (unless their final stay bumps them in the next few days), if they are anxious to bump their status for 2016, then I can see the desire, but it's not going to happen until someone in IT launches the sweep and there is no set time for that to happen.
