My partner and I have travelled together since the first three weeks of our relationship.

We always pack separately, on occasion she'll carry one or two of my books, but never any of my clothes.

I can understand why you would want to put your stuff in two bags -- insuring that if one is lost, you have something to wear. However, we have never had a problem and each of us is responsible for schlepping,staging and caring for our own stuff.
