Of course, if you dangle premium seats for a little more I might save them for a big trip.
That is one of the reasons I chose Hilton for a credit card. I don't travel much (didn't really get much paid time off before, and now I can usually take a week off at a time/do not travel for work). So the categories of groceries and drugstores (while available) helped accumulate points. And at the time, I would have been able to redeem for some big trips, just through spend. Then the devaluation happened. Make it too available and it hurts all.
