I suspect HP front desk agents are paid less and receive less rigorous training than at full service properties. Feels like shopping at 7-11 vs. Nordstrom. (Although there are occasional exceptions, such as HH SLC Downtown, where the service was excellent.)

I'd just like to not be given a crappy room. That to me is the #1 most important theoretical benefit of status. Although it seems increasingly to require at least one phone call or trip back down to the front desk after I've been given said crappy room.
