I've learned to unmake hotel beds to the point where I can see all the sheets. I also take the bedspread off and toss it on the floor. Nasty! I have never seen hotel bedspreads or blankets cleaned. Have you?

When possible I carry along my own pillow in a brightly colored case so that the maids don't fiddle with it. Yes, I agree that the more we travel, the more picky we get!

Rather than carry my own sheets, I would buy one of the sleep sacks from Magellan, Travelsmith or make one myself.

I also do not use the blankets or pillows on airplanes.
