They had just started implementing this when I was there on 2 March - though I wasn't aware of it until I got there, some 90 minutes before my Buzz flight to STN. (Nothing had been said on my outbound flight earlier the same week). No problem with the "late" check-in, though - and I was by no means the last person to turn up. Nothing was said about any special measures at check-in, and it was more by accident that I noticed the unusually early boarding time on my boarding card - 1250 for a 1410 departure. I initially assumed that this was a mistake... until I heard a "final call" just after 1300! Having just gone through security I discovered that there was then another security check just 100 metres or so from the first one.

This must be peculiar to FRA, though... my mother was on a UK-bound flight from a different German airport the very next day, and she said that security was very much "as normal".
