You may be right but the problem is it is now typical. I have flown BA for over 30 years and wild horses will not make be pay for F on BA or indeed J now. Qatar, Qantas, Cathay, KLM god help us even AA all provide a level of service that is simply in another league compared to ailing BA. They are over protected and it shows and are no better now (relatively speaking) than they were in the early 80's prior to privatisation.
How long after you last flew BA (revenue) do you expect your experiences to be conclusive?
