My experience with Advantage was almost identical to g_leyser. In Seattle, reserved an economy, but was given a Jeep Liberty. When I rented in PHX, I was given the economy car I reserved, but it was the cheapest rate going.
Are you adverse to renting from avis?, there is a great thread of discount codes going in the Avis forum. I have been using the various discounts for the past year & always manage to find competitive rates with Avis, and have been renting almost exclusively from them lately.
