I was here a little over a week ago after debating between this and the Phuket property. Based on reviews for both, I decided to try Hua Hin especially considering we have been to Phuket before.

As a diamond, I decided to skip the DSU and go for the Regency Club room as I wanted to be closer to the lounge. I booked 2 days before the trip and saw there were plenty rooms available, so I booked a standard room and crossed my finger that a regency room would still be available and I would be upgraded. Fortunately, that was the case and we were given what I think is one of the better rooms (not overlooking the pool). It was a first floor unit, directly overlooking the pond and the beach in the distance. To the left of the pond was the lounge which I could see standing at the window of my room. We loved our room and even though I have 2 DSU to burn before Feb, I did not want a suite on the other side of the property.

Staff here is amazing and the lounge is really great. The service by the pool was exceptional, as soon as we found a spot someone was over with towel and cold water. The evening spread in the lounge wasn't to our liking but breakfast was really good. This is Thailand however, so great food is easily found off resort. Resort is very family friendly and we knew this going in. It did not bother us as at all and I didn't experience any out of control kids. Beach here is not really for swimming, which we missed more than we expected. We made the best of the pool however, and I had fun racing down the slides with the kids.

I also was not impressed by Cicada market and had a better shopping experience and food in town. The seafood restaurants on the night market street in town was AMAZING! Cicada is definitely less crowded and is a lot nicer and cleaner than the night market area in town. Each person will have a different liking, so try both.

Only disappointment here was the long drive to the resort from Bangkok and the poor beach. All things outside the hotel control, and just our personal preference. I would certainly return because of how great the staff is and because I like Hua Hin town.
