tell us about that travel horror that became a treasured memory

It's funny how our minds work. We can go through the worst disaster and that somehow, later, becomes a most treasured memory.

I'm wondering what misadventure, what horror, or at last inconvenience, you went through in your travels, that you recall with fondness today?

I'll start. It's not much of a story. We somehow found out about a cabin for rent in Idylwild in the mountains of Southern California not far from Palm Springs.

We stayed there with another couple. We had a baby then and they had one.

When we arrived, we realized that it had been somewhat of a mistake. The cabin was very cold. The facilities were much poorer than claimed, to say the least.

The few electric lights were a spiderweb of wires all plugged into a handful of overworked electric outlets -- a fire fighter's nightmare.

It was hard to get warm.

Somehow, we made the best of it and it is something I recall with fondness today.
