Return flights are a little more scarce; 30K on Sunday, it goes down to 20K on Mondays in August. I can appreciate the sentiment that one day is enough for many people to see Barrow, but for the distance traveled, it wouldn't hurt to make it a long weekend. There is interesting stuff to do there; you do have to seek it out.
I don't mind doing the one way on award to BRW and traveling on a Thu knowing full well I'm going to be laying overnight somewhere, SEA, ANC or FAI. If I had my choice I'd choose to layover In ANC or FAI and for as many hours as possible and if I had enough time, rent a car and see something
I could pay cash for a return even if the cash portion is only to ANC or FAI or VV
I'd be interested to know what else there is to do. I agree for the distance traveled, it would make sense to spend a few days but from everything and I do mean everything I've read, there isn't a whole lot to do.

Saw a bit of a game up there last year (was up there that weekend by chance

I'd be interested in knowing more about the game (not so much the actual game but the festivities around it)
How did you get to the field, its like five miles from town correct? I take it they have concessions? It looks like there is a lake on one side (closer to the field) and across the road is the Arctic Ocean.
As for flying, are these flights generally packed? It's all Y correct so who really is on these flights? it can't be all tourists.
