Not really, other than travelling with another airline that has a more generous baggage allowance. The baggage allowance and excess baggage charges are fully disclosed on the QF/EK websites.

For QF it is $80/kg for excess baggage at the airport.
For EK it is £53/kg at the airport.
You can prepay £954 for 20kg extra with EK.

If it is an Emirates operated flight I believe you would need to call Emirates to prepay for extra luggage.

Also, there is no 'u' in Qantas.
