It's all about the upgrades
The answer to the OP mainly depends of what routes he expects to fly in 2016.
On the west coast for example, silvers can reasonably get upgrades on regional routes. OP lives east coast, so I really can't say.

In other words, Silver = Delta Amex card bene's + shot at upgrades
