I see a reasonable number of seats (20K each way) available on the AS web site for 3 if you leave on a Thursday night in August from IAD or BWI and stop enroute in Seattle or Anchorage, still arrive in Barrow Friday night. Return flights are a little more scarce; 30K on Sunday, it goes down to 20K on Mondays in August. I can appreciate the sentiment that one day is enough for many people to see Barrow, but for the distance traveled, it wouldn't hurt to make it a long weekend. There is interesting stuff to do there; you do have to seek it out.
