I'm bumping an old thread with the same question

I want to go to Barrow and ideally would like to arrive on a Friday, depart on a Sunday. Ideally I would like three seats on miles IAD/WAS-BRW however my search on AA and UA didn't show much

AA had seats at the saver level but not for the days I need to be there One of the last three Saturdays in August 2016. I need to be there on Saturday so I need to arrive Thu or Friday. I can leave sunday or monday.

UA sells tickets to BRW but does not offer awards.

AA offers the awards but only at the saver level (not many choices) and no AAnytime awards. My kids have some AS miles as well from DL flights. I did not try the AS site? does AS offer its own FFN program better redemption opportunities than partners?

I presume I can get IAD/ANC or FAI easier; is it very expensive to pay for the RT to BRW from ANC or FAI?
