I think a lot of MVPG FTers would not redeem AS miles for a saver F. Instead, they would use GGUs to upgrade a coach fare. Or buy a Gold-up fare (especially if using a Bof A cert!).

That said, you have identified one of several mileage anomalies between the programs.
