DL flight number: Miles based on ticket price. Super cheap price means few miles
AM flight number: Miles based on distance. Very long distance means many miles
Edit. If your parents are flying, it makes no difference. You get zero miles either way

Yes, I know the AM legs will give a lot of miles. My question is when AM rebooked on DL, wouldn't the fare be under AM rule, earning on AM rate, or would it be DL rate. And it looks like everyone thinks it's going to be DL rate. Everyone except DeltaAssist who can't answer the questions.
