My two cents: I've gotten good deals at National in the past. The Emerald Aisle is right across the street from baggage claim and is very efficient. I'm a big Hertz fan in most locations, but they are inefficient in Tampa: no true #1 Club Gold service. They are next to National, but you have to stand in line for a car. And for a one-day rental, Hertz is rarely cheapest.

Not any more National and Alamo merged stations and moved to a new large location off the airport ( on Spruce between the Internationat Mall and the Main post office ) A shuttle bus will pick you up but
soetime it take a while since the shuttle has to make the rounds to all the airsides.
For some reason all rentals have very high in most of Feb and March I tried to get a car for a relative and the rates were upwards of $300/week best I could do was a special Emerald aisle rate of $179.00/week.
