Tax Deductible Charitable Organizations

Still adjusting to life in Japan.

How does charitable giving work in Japan?

Not that the motive or amount of giving should be based on whether their is a tax deductible benefit but is their such a thing?

Are donations to a church deductible?
Major world wide charities? (UNICEF, Red Cross, Doctors without Borders etc) These organizations issue receipts but can you use them in Japan?

If you are an employee of a Japanese company, can you claim such donations and get a refund? If so, how?

Been googling and I am more confused than I started.
