Since you used a MasterCard, you have more protection considering the MC DCC rules state you only have to say you were not offered the option of paying in local currency. While we don't lose out either way, my hope is that this becomes enough of a nuisance that issuers start to push for chargebacks to force merchant compliance.

Yup from the Midwest. I will wait til I return to make a fuss. So far I haven't had this issue anywhere else.
