Could it have been a different quiche you had?
It could have been - there was no menu, and it would have said "French toast," anyway. But it did have spinach, which is usually what makes it "florentine."

We are certainly a fickle group... we complain when there is no food, we complain when there is food...

I think saying ALL flights longer than x get a meal is simple (regardless of departure time).
But it's not true. LIH-LAX only gets a snack for a 6 hour flight. Coach doesn't even get food for purchase other than some salty bagged snacks (there may have been a cheese option). Our FA (who did his best with what he was dealt) said to the passenger sitting behind me who couldn't eat either option as they both had tomatoes and cheese that they don't have catering service in LIH so have to load it in LA. That doesn't even make sense - if they have room to load the trays, then they have room for the full meal service, no?

In any event, the experience in F on 12/2 was:

PDB: bottled water
I don't remember about nuts, but I think not because we had some leftover from our condo and ate those
no linens
snack choice of "pizza" (which turned out be be a calzone) or lasagna (large, overly salty slab of gluey pasta). No side salad or dessert.

The gate agent did announce that there would be no meal service and that people could buy food at the food court before boarding. This announcement
was made 10 minutes prior to boarding, which left no time to do so. I don't know if people checking in at the counter were similarly advised. I had called to order our "meal" and the rep advised that it was only a snack.

There were 2 FC FAs - the male FA was terrific - proactively came out and did his job with a smile in spite of complaints from everybody but us (I had already complained to the phone rep so had gotten it out of my system). The female FA was good but didn't show her face often.
